For my sci-fi landscape, I chose to take an H.R. Giger approach by incorporating human anatomy into my scene. The land is sentient. A disembodied ribcage is positioned overhead to look like a leviathan. The land is dismal, foreboding, viscerally (literally, palpably related to the viscera) ominous. The ground is threaded by capillaries. I wanted it to feel like you are in the company of something omnipresent and all-consuming.
